Berwang - Heiterwanger Hochalm

The hiking trail to the Hochalm begins at the Egghof car park. The path runs alongside the chair lift Egghof Sun Jet, gently rising through the forest past the playground to the Bärenbad (outdoor swimming pool), which can be reached after a 5-minute walk. After the Bärenarena on the right, the well-developed forest path (asphalted) continues uphill to the next crossing named Biligweg - “The View” (former Jägerhaus). Turn left onto the gravel path and walk approx. 500 meters along the Biligweg, at the highest point of the Biligweg the hiking path to the Hochalm begins on the right. After a total walking time of approx. 1:15 h you will reach the Hochalm, located directly at the mountain station of the chair lift Berwanger Sonnalmbahn and the cable car Almkopfbahn Bichlbach.
This hiking trail to the Hochalm is suitable for prams.

We recommend the ascent from the Hochalm to the Almkopf summit, which is situated on 1.802 meters. From there you can enjoy a great view of the whole valley Berwangertal and the surrounding area (viewpoint) - approx. 45 minutes ascent.

Descent options:
- the same way back to Berwang
- descent via the “The View” (former Jägerhaus) to Berwang
- descent via the Höhenweg to Berwang (not suitable for pushchairs!)
- descent to Bichlbach

The Hochalm can also be reached by the Berwanger Sonnalmbahn (4-seater chairlift) - opening times and tariff information available from the tourist office.
