Culture & TRADITION

Culture and tradition play an important role in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. And holidays guests are always more than welcome to take part in the customs and festivities at the seven towns of the region. Unique event highlights and a diverse list of cultural offers invite you to experience traditional Tyrolean entertainment. What’s more, many museums and churches let you go on an exciting journey through the region’s history. In addition, the Almabtrieb and the Schafschoad take place every year, when cattle and sheep are driven down from the mountain pastures. You can find all the dates for the events here in the event calendar.

Events that celebrate tradition

Event highlights in the region

If you’d like to celebrate the customs and traditions of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena alongside locals, that’s just what you can do at several special events. Watching lavishly decorated animals as they return from their pastures, the eerily beautiful costumes of the “Krampusse”, or the extravagant masks of the “Einscheller”: There’s a lot to see and marvel at year-round. Another one of these cultural highlights are the breathtaking mountain fires – possibly the most popular event on the Tyrolean side of the Zugspitze.

Experiencing history up close

Museums & churches

The majestic Zugspitze is an integral part of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena’s name –and of course, it’s among the region’s most important attractions. If you’d like to find out more about the Zugspitze’s eventful history, you can do so in an interactive way at the Fascination Zugspitze Experiential World at almost 3,000 metres above sea level.

Did you know that the guild church in Bichlbach is the only one of its kind in Austria? And if you’re already in the area, you should also visit the guild museum. To find out how today’s “MOHR life resort” became the famous hotel it is today, you might want to stop by at the “3 Mohren Museum”.
