Culture & TRADITION

Customs are very important in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. Typical Tyrolean festivals and traditions offer the opportunity to immerse yourself completely in the Tyrolean mountains and experience very special moments. The seven villages in the region offer a multitude of event highlights and a varied cultural program. Of course, typical Tyrolean entertainment is also a must!
The many museums and churches also take you on exciting journeys into the past.

Rich in traditions

Event highlights in the region

If you’d like to celebrate the customs and traditions of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena alongside locals, that’s just what you can do at several special events. Watching lavishly decorated animals as they return from their pastures (alpine cattle drive), the eerily beautiful costumes of the “Krampusse”, or the extravagant masks of the “Einscheller”: There’s a lot to see and marvel at year-round. Another one of these cultural highlights are the breathtaking mountain fires – possibly the most popular event on the Tyrolean side of the Zugspitze and an immaterial UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Museums, churches and sights

The majestic Zugspitze is an integral part of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena’s name –and of course, it’s among the region’s most important attractions. If you’d like to find out more about the Zugspitze’s eventful history, you can do so in an interactive way at the Fascination Zugspitze Experiential World at almost 3,000 metres above sea level.

Did you know that the guild church in Bichlbach is the only one of its kind in Austria? And if you’re already in the area, you should also visit the guild museum. To find out how today’s “MOHR life resort” became the famous hotel it is today, you might want to stop by at the “3 Mohren Museum”.
