Krampus Procession

The Krampus tradition has deep roots in Tyrol and is an integral part of the region's culture. In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, this custom is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Fearsome figures roam the streets, evoking both fear and fascination. The Krampus is considered the ‘evil’ companion of St Nicholas. Nevertheless, according to legend, the Krampus runners, with their creepy masks, are also supposed to drive away the evil spirits of winter. The region hosts numerous Krampus processions, where you can witness the striking masks and devilish behavior up close. Below, you'll find an overview of the largest Krampus events in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena.
