Travelling by train
Take advantage of the excellent train connections in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena and travel completely relaxed.

The regional train runs daily from Innsbruck via Garmisch-Partenkirchen (connection to trains to/from Munich) and Reutte to Pfronten - and also stops at the stations in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena (Ehrwald, Lermoos, Lähn near Bichlbach, Bichlbach-Berwang, Bichlbach Almkopfbahn and Heiterwang).

Relaxed, jam-free, affordable and sustainable: the Deutschlandticket is also valid for the journey to the train stations in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena and back to Germany.
Passengers can travel from Pfronten (D) via Reutte (AT) to the six stations in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena (Ehrwald, Lermoos, Lähn bei Bichlbach, Bichlbach-Berwang, Bichlbach Almkopfbahn and Heiterwang).
Trains also run from Munich via Garmisch-Partenkirchen (D) and Griesen (D) to the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena.

Watch out: Unlike in Germany, the Deutschlandticket is not valid on local bus lines in Austria. However, overnight guests receive the guest card of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, which allows free use of bus connections in the region. So it's worth staying longer (you can search for and book your accommodation here).
In addition, the Deutschlandticket is only valid for travel to and from Germany on certain routes, not for domestic travel within Austria.
Travelling by car
For a toll-free journey from Germany to the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, you can choose between two routes: A7 motorway (Ulm – Füssen) or A95 motorway (Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen)

- Munich: 1.5 hours (110 kilometres)
- Stuttgart: 2.5 hours (250 kilometres)
- Merano: 2.5 hours (180 kilometres)

Speaking from experience, Saturday tends to be the busiest travel day. This means: Plan for more time in case of possible delays or adjust your travel time if need be!

Travelling by bus
The Flixbus inter-city coach offers daily connections to the German side of the Zugspitze – for instance, to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
