Fall traditions in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena
Cattle drive & sheep shearing

When the summer comes to an end, the people of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena give thanks for the safe return of the cattle: Almabtrieb (alpine cattle drive) and Schafschoad (sheep shearing) are living customs, where the magnificently decorated cows move down into the valley and the sheep are shorn. These traditions are framed by live music and festive events. Visitors can expect a traditional atmosphere, handmade specialties and a family-friendly supporting program.

12.-13.09.2025 / Lermoos

Kulinarium & Cattle drive

On Friday, Sept 12, the anticipation begins in Lusspark: from 4:00 PM the cozy Kulinarium kicks off — live music with the "craftsmen" ensures the best atmosphere and invites you to get in the mood for the big parade on Saturday. Discover the regional market with local clubs and innkeepers!

The main "Almabtrieb" takes place on Saturday, Sept 13: the decorated herd sets off from the Panoramabad at 1:00 PM and is expected to pass through the village of Lermoos around 1:30 PM, continuing toward Lusspark, where live music will keep the celebration going from about 1:30 PM. Please note: the route has changed. Come early, enjoy regional treats and let yourself be enchanted by this traditional autumn atmosphere!

14.09.2025 / Ehrwald

Sheep shearing

Experience the "Schafschoad" on Sept 14 at Martinsplatz in Ehrwald: when the sheep arrive and are freshly shorn, tradition turns into a colourful festival. From 12:30 PM live music sets the mood, there’s a large bouncy castle for the little ones, and stalls offer regional food & drinks. Free admission — just drop by and join the celebration!
