Alpine curling – a winter sport with rich tradition
A great opportunity for having some competitive winter fun with your family and friends is Alpine curling in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. The ice stock sport is an integral part of winter in Tyrol with a long-standing Alpine tradition.
Cone-shaped “Eisstöcke” (ice stocks) are slid over the surface of the ice. The goal: hitting a small wooden puck – the Daube. Two teams compete in getting the ice stocks as close as possible to the target. The one who achieves the shortest distance from it, wins the most points and eventually the game. Alpine curling primarily requires strategic thinking, dexterity and a feel for distance.
