Via Claudia bike route
Culturally interested bikers can enter the history-laden world of ancient Rome on the Via Claudia bike route. The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena is located along the Via Claudia Augusta – a connecting route between Italy and southern Germany. Today, parts of the uncovered ancient road are accessible to bikers and hikers who want to go on a historic journey of exploration.
Tip: Shuttle service and bus returns ! Both give bikers a lift from May to October. The shuttle transports your luggage or takes you and your bike across the challenging route section of the Fern Pass. Another option is to return from Italy to Tyrol or Germany by bus. Busses are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Blindsee trail
The local MTB highlight for advanced riders is the Blindsee trail from Grubigstein Mountain to Lake Blindsee. It was voted one of the “4 Great Trails” in Tyrol in 2018 and rewards skill and focus with a breathtaking view of the turquoise blue lake. Flowy or crisp sections, gravel passages, amazing scenic views and – to top it all off – taking a dip in the cold water of the mountain lake: What more could an MTB fanatic desire?
Good to know: The partially challenging single track is between S2 and S3 in terms of its difficulty and thus requires a safe riding technique.
Bike Everest Tirol
The Bike Everest Tirol is an extraordinary mountain bike tour with a total of 8,848 hm - which is exactly the measure of Mount Everest as the highest mountain on earth. The varied tour with its 285 km leads in seven stages to the most beautiful places between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Nauders at the Reschenpass. The 3rd and most demanding stage is the one through the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena.
Unique: The Bike Everest Tirol starting package including tour book. Each finisher receives a personal certificate and the Bike Everest Tirol Swiss stone pine trophy.
Biking and cable cars
All bike enthusiasts who want to head well-rested into their mountain adventures can transport their bike by cable car. Almost all facilities allow bikers to bring their “two-wheel friend” along for the ride up the mountain. The only prerequisite: a valid cable car ticket.
