Mountain Bike Safari-Stage 04: Imst – Lermoos

Trail description: The top terminal of Imster Bergbahnen Chair Lift heralds the start of a short stretch of climbing, gaining some 100 meters in height, followed by a mellow descent that curves its way down eastward and deposits you at the foot of another short climb, close to Starkenbergersee Lake. The last part of the descent down to Tarrenz has some tight turns. Cross Fern Pass Road to get to the quieter, eastern side of the valley. Follow this route to the northeast until you reach the village of Nassereith. From here, the trail runs to the east and begins the long, leg-sapping ascent atop Marienbergjoch Col. There are some steep pitches to negotiate close to the old sled run, taking you to the col, 1,800 meters above sea level. A downhill ride coasts down to Ehrwald Basin. Shortly after Sunnalm, the route splits into the main trail and a more technical singletrack option (S1-S2). Both trails lead to Biberwier and across Moos or along Wachtersteig to Lermoos, the destination end of this ride.
