Valentine’s Day in the Tyrolean mountains

On a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the magical landscapes of the Tiroler Zugspitz, even adults will think they’ve entered a wintery fairy tale. Trotting along at a leisurely pace, the horses lead their guests through the snow-covered valleys. Snuggled up in thick blankets, the passengers feel only warmth, especially in their hearts. Lovers who also love adventure can have their fun trying out night-time tobogganing on the Ehrwalder Almbahn. And the best thing about it: on these set dates,  the illuminated downhill run is reserved exclusively for tobogganing. Starting at the Ehrwalder Alm upper terminal, you begin your ride down the slopes under the stars – at full speed or with a little more caution. No matter what style, equipment, or speed, all night-time tobogganers have one thing in common: they love the thrill of the descent. Toboggans can also be hired at the lower terminal in Ehrwald. Sparks literally fly during such an action-packed experience.  

On reaching the bottom, tobogganers can use their lift ticket to return to the upper terminal, where they’ll be greeted by a gourmet evening in the Tirolerhaus, located directly next to the Ehrwalder Almbahn terminal. The highlight: the ‘hot hat’. This special fondue pot is modelled on the traditional hat of the Tatars, the legendary equestrian people of the Mongols – and your host may be able to explain how it came to Tyrol.
