Variety on skis: seven ski areas around the Zugspitze, countless possibilities

The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena is home to seven varied ski areas that offer a wide range of winter sports options. From the Ehrwalder Alm to the Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen and the Marienberg in Biberwier to the Skiarena Berwang-Bichlbach, the Grubigstein in Lermoos, the Karlift Heiterwang and the Zugspitze ski area (accessible with the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn), both beginners and experienced skiers will find perfect pistes for every skiing style - from relaxed cruising to sporty carving. Easy access to all ski areas is guaranteed by a well-developed ski bus network, which can be used free of charge with the guest card.

A special highlight for winter sports enthusiasts is the Top Snow Card, which is a cross-border ski pass for Tyrol and Bavaria. The offer is complemented by the popular Superski Weeks, which offer attractive discounts with the guest card. In addition, the new Obere Karbahn II in Berwang planned for December 2025 will provide even more comfort and longer descents, as the top station of the new 10-seater gondola lift will be around 140 metres higher than the previous end of the T-bar lift.

In three certified Tyrolean family ski areas - Ehrwalder Alm, Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen and Skiarena Berwang-Bichlbach - families will find an ideal environment with slopes suitable for children, qualified ski schools, family-friendly catering and special rates. In the Ehrwalder Alm ski area, young freestylers will find perfect conditions for practising in the Familypark, while the snow park offers exciting lines for beginners and pros alike. Night skiing in Ehrwald and Berwang as well as atmospheric ski shows in Berwang and Lermoos bring the magic of winter to life even after sunset.

Barrier-free skiing also plays an important role in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. With the No Handicap initiative, the Snowpower ski school in Lermoos makes winter sports possible for people with disabilities. Special bi-skis and trained ski instructors ensure personalised support and accessibility.

Authentic huts with regional specialities and cosy restaurants complement the winter culinary experience - whether on sunny terraces with a view of the Zugspitze or by a crackling open fire.

Winter hiking and snowshoe tours: enjoy peace and nature

Away from the pistes, the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena invites you to enjoy more than 60 kilometres of well-maintained winter hiking trails and varied snowshoe tours. The tranquil, powerful atmosphere of the snow-covered forests against the imposing mountain backdrop makes hiking in winter a special experience. For families and explorers, three of the six digital adventure trails - in Ehrwald, Berwang and Heiterwang am See - are also accessible in winter. These trails combine playful elements and puzzles with nature and are a highlight for young and old.

Guided tours, hire stations and the free guest card with numerous included tours round off the offer. Whether sporty on snowshoes or leisurely on winter trails - the clear air and panoramic views give you real freedom.

Uncomplicated journey - see the mountains and arrive

The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena is located just over the German border - on the sunny side of the Zugspitze - making it particularly easy to get to. Without pass roads or tolls, holidaymakers can quickly and easily immerse themselves in the mountains via Germany. The region is also easily accessible by train, making a sustainable journey easy: six stops in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena are directly connected to the railway network. Connections via Stuttgart and Kempten as well as from Munich and Innsbruck via Garmisch-Partenkirchen lead directly to the holiday region. Free winter and ski buses (with the guest card) provide convenient mobility between the villages and ski areas.

E-car drivers will also find a dense network of charging stations to keep them mobile - both on the journey and on holiday.

Infinite expanse and a real winter feeling on the Zugspitze

The Tiroler Zugspitzbahn cable car takes guests in comfort to an altitude of almost 3,000 metres, the highest point in the region. From the panorama platform, a breathtaking panoramic view opens up, revealing up to 400 peaks in four countries on a clear day. The "Fascination Zugspitze" adventure museum offers exciting insights into the history and nature of this unique mountain, including a glass floor that provides a spectacular view into the depths. Visitors can enjoy culinary delights with a view in the panorama restaurant.

The Zugspitze natural snow ski area is also easily accessible with the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn - a winter experience that is particularly impressive thanks to its location and guaranteed snow.

Cross-country skiing, tobogganing and more: winter adventures for everyone on the sunny side of the Zugspitze

Cross-country skiers will find around 120 kilometres of free cross-country trails in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, which lead through seven villages and cover various levels of difficulty. The high-altitude trails in Berwang and the snow-covered circular golf trail between Ehrwald and Lermoos guarantee snow. On the varied routes, you can feel the freedom and vastness of the winter landscape particularly intensely. The trails are easily accessible thanks to the winter buses, and hire centres and cross-country skiing schools in the region ensure that even beginners are well equipped and well looked after.

For tobogganing fans, there are several varied routes to choose from, which are great fun during the day and at night with floodlit pistes. Night tobogganing in Ehrwald, Berwang and Lermoos in particular provides atmospheric winter moments under the starry sky.

The region also offers atmospheric torchlight hikes (free of charge with the guest card) through snow-covered, wintry forests. Ice skating and curling, deeply rooted in Alpine tradition, provide sociable leisure fun. Experiences such as horse-drawn sleigh rides through impressive winter landscapes and relaxed llama hikes (also free of charge with the guest card) offer families, couples and small groups in particular a relaxing way to enjoy the peaceful winter wonderland to the full.

New products and highlights of the season

Three of the six digital adventure trails are also accessible in winter - great fun for families and explorers. A new feature is the year-round stamp pass, which is available in both digital and printed form and also includes the cross-country ski trails for the first time. You can pick up a physical stamp at most huts and stamping points. Stamps can also be collected digitally via SummitLynx. Huts and stamp points therefore offer a wide range of options for collecting stamps.

The completion of the Obere Karbahn II in Berwang in December 2025 will further increase comfort for guests and enable longer pistes.

The three certified family ski areas Ehrwalder Alm, Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen and Skiarena Berwang-Bichlbach offer slopes suitable for children, ski schools, family-friendly catering and special rates. The Familypark and the Funslope on the Ehrwalder Alm are particularly fun for young guests.
