Whether on two wheels, at lofty heights, on foot or relaxing in a hotel - the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena and Garmisch-Partenkirchen will continue to offer a wide range of leisure activities for all age groups in the 2025 summer season. The new issue of the GRENZENLOS magazine presents a comprehensive overview of the best activities and experiences in the region.
Locals and guests alike can look forward to a varied summer programme against an impressive Alpine backdrop. The summer 2025 edition of the GRENZENLOS magazine presents special highlights that can be experienced all year round and make the region a year-round holiday destination.
The nature of the cross-border region offers ideal conditions for both active holidaymakers and those seeking relaxation. Hiking enthusiasts will find countless kilometres of attractive routes - including the challenging Kandahar Hike or adventures in the region's climbing forests. Those who prefer to relax will find retreats with historical flair in the regional hotels, for example in the footsteps of Richard Strauss.
Step by step around the Zugspitze
The trend towards cycling in alpine terrain continues - gravel biking in particular is becoming increasingly popular. There are numerous tours and trails available in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena and around Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The expansion of the infrastructure is now also supported by the EU.

Head trail shaper Christian Heitmann provides an insight into trail planning, revealing in GRENZENLOS magazine which new routes are to be realised in summer 2025 and how they will appeal to beginners, families and advanced riders alike.
Adventure meets knowledge
Those who want to combine alpine challenges with knowledge transfer will also find suitable offers in the new magazine. Those who find the classic ascent and descent on the mountain too monotonous will find an exciting alternative with one of the three "Mountain Secrets" escape trails. The interactive stories are based on regional legends and myths and transform the hike into a puzzling experience. The structure and features of the trails vary depending on the route - the organiser regularly adapts them to the respective surroundings, ensuring variety and the potential for rediscovery.

The "Natursteig Osterfelder" themed trail also combines exercise with information: the three-hour hike leads past three interactive stations and provides interesting facts about the mountain world - complemented by fitness exercises for young and old.
Experience the mountains in a nature-friendly way
The alpine landscape of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena and neighbouring Garmisch-Partenkirchen is one of the region's greatest natural assets. At the same time, increasing visitor pressure can put a strain on sensitive ecosystems - especially when "insider tips" circulated on social media are overrun.
In GRENZENLOS magazine, Hansjörg Ragg, Head of Hunting in the Tyrolean Hunters' Association, explains what is important when visiting protected areas. Topics such as compulsory use of a lead, consideration for wild animals and the use of suitable apps are addressed as well as sensible behaviour for a nature-friendly stay.
