Spring awakening in the Tyrol Zugspitz Arena

A guest article by Danijel Jovanovic

Very dull and rainy was the beginning of spring in Tyrol and after a long winter we were all looking forward to warmer temperatures and blooming landscapes. Everything took a little longer this year, so the joy was all the greater when I was able to spend a few days in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena to enjoy spring to the fullest.

The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena

The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena includes the Tyrolean part at the foot of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. It includes the communities of Ehrwald, Lermoos, Biberwier, Heiterwang, Berwang, Bichlbach and Namlos. For me as a photographer, the region really offers everything: mountains, nature, lakes, gorges and thus a variety of opportunities to pursue my passion and spend the whole with trips and time in nature.

I would like to take you with this blog to the places that I have visited these days.

Kann der Frühling schöner sein? Stadl im Moos bei Biberwier

The extensive, practically flat area in the valley of Ehrwald is called Moos. The extensive Moos landscape is located in the triangle between Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier and is ideal for walks or even short bike tours. From the Moos you have a complete view of all the mountains around, dominated by the imposing Zugspitze, the rugged Sonnenspitze and the Daniel.

Starting from Lermoos, I walked the path to Ehrwald and from there towards Biberwier and back again. How to design the route is up to you, paths through the moss there are numerous. The best thing is to look at the great maps of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena: http://maps.zugspitzarena.com/

Stroll in the larch forest

The larch forest between Ehrwald and Biberwier is like a fairy tale. A must do when visiting the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena. I have really rarely seen such a beautiful forest. Above the traffic circle on the outskirts of Ehrwald in the direction of Biberwier, it starts. A cozy little loop leads through the larch forest and you can recharge your batteries there and let your soul dangle.

All water in the Rotlech Gorge

In the district of Rinnen in the municipality of Berwang you will find the Rotlech Gorge. A short but adventurous circular path leads down into the gorge and to the imposing waterfall with its height of over 20 meters. I'll just let the pictures do the talking. A really great experience!

Relaxing at the Heiterwanger Lake

Lake Heiterwanger with its beautiful, clear water is one of the highlights of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena. Whether you go for a walk, swim, take a boat trip or go stand-up paddling. A good time is certainly guaranteed here.

Walking Ponöfen

Right at the foot of the Zugspitze you will find a wonderful walking trail in Ehrwald. The area is called Ponöfen and a circular path offers many idyllic impressions of nature. The impressive mountain range of the Zugspitze is omnipresent here. The starting point is a parking lot south of the Zugspitz Resort. The path is practically level and therefore easy to walk.

Walk through the villages

Sometimes you don't feel like going on bigger trips. Why not just experience the villages on the spot. What good food to go, enjoy a coffee in the sun?
