‘Mum, dad, are we nearly there yet?’ Many parents driving towards their winter holiday destinations will know this whine from the back seat only too well. But it doesn’t have to be that way – as it takes no longer than 90 minutes to reach the guaranteed snow in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena from many cities in southern Germany.
There’s practically nowhere else where snow is guaranteed that can be got to as quickly or easily as the Austrian side of the Zugspitze. It takes less than an hour and a half from Munich to reach the idyllic villages of Ehrwald, Lermoos, Berwang, Biberwier, Bichlbach, Heiterwang am See, and Namlos. That’s less than an hour and a half until you see the imposing Zugspitze. Less than an hour and a half until you hear the call of the ski slopes and the snow glistening in the sunlight: welcome to this winter wonderland!
But it’s not just near Munich – from Ulm, too, you can get to the Berwang-Bichlbach ski arena, the Grubigstein, or the Ehrwalder Alm in the same time on motorway A7. You can, of course, also leave the car at home and come by train. The five stations in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena offer ideal connections to the best spots, and at the same time a more relaxing journey with a low carbon footprint. You can also enjoy flexible travel between the different villages with the free ski bus (guest card), allowing you to see as much as possible of our diverse region.
