Amidst the Tyrolean mountains
Namlos

Guests looking for peace and pure relaxation away from the hustle and bustle are in the right place in the lovely mountain village of Namlos. The small community is idyllically nestled in the Tyrolean mountains - and offers pure relaxation in untouched nature and fresh mountain air in both summer and winter. Active vacationers will find a paradise for outdoor activities here.

Useful information

Namlos is situated at 1,264 metres above sea level in the Namlos valley, a side valley of the Lech valley. The hamlet of Kelmen belongs to the municipality and forms the connection to the Rotlechtal valley. Neighbouring communities include Berwang and Stanzach. Thanks to its unique location, Namlos is one of the quietest places in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena – ideal for nature lovers and anyone seeking true tranquillity.

► Village map of Namlos

The place name has nothing to do with a “nameless village” – even if that story is often repeated. More likely, it derives from the settler Amel: Amels became Namels, and eventually Namlos. So the name that sounds unusual today is simply the result of historical development.

Namlos was first mentioned in 1286 and was settled from the Imst region. The alpine pastures belonged to Imst until the late 13th century, later becoming part of the municipality of Berwang. On October 8, 1930, the so-called Namlos earthquake shook the village – 16 tremors caused numerous chimneys to collapse. Since 1949, Namlos has been an independent municipality.
